The source for cutting edge deck architecture

Block constructed season is finally over. In contrast with the constructed format, block meta is more diverse. You’ve got your slew of Shaman and Rogue Rush, a bevy of various control Priests, Mages, Warriors and Druids and then spice it up with combo Warlock. Constructed format is more defined as opposed to the block format. There are but a few consistent decks that really make up the constructed format and if you can’t get past them then your deck needs more tweaking.

When I started to play WoW, I differentiated each of the nine classes; their strengths and weaknesses. After checking the Warlock class, I immediately liked it. The class can easily handle allies because it has a lot of targeted and AoE abilities in its arsenal. It has the best card disruption printed, in my opinion, in Eye of Kilrogg. Though they may have a way to indirectly answer On-going abilities and Equipments through Banish to the Nether and Suspended Curse but being a caster gives them the benefit of wielding The Bringer of Death. Also, it has the highest health out of the other three caster classes.

So I started off with my first Blue Warlock midrange deck. The deck is as follows:

[Janky Goodness] Unholy Power

Since the release of Unholy Power from the new Drums of War set, it has been a given a lot of hype in our playtest group. The fact that it gives all Demons +3 attack and +3 health is nothing to be scoffed at. It works much like the Hunter ability Master of the Hunt but a lot better. Although Master of the Hunt can be used by any Hunter class, Unholy Power is limited only Demonology Warlocks. But, the good part is that it isn’t limited to your pets only. All Demons on your side of the board gets the buff including your hero if you happen to have a Footsteps of Illidan on it.

So I wracked my brains out in hopes of creating a good list on how to maximize this new ability’s power. I looked over the list of Demons that will synergize with Unholy Power. By the way, in case some doesn’t know yet, the card received an errata. It is now considered an on-going ability. Back to the list, so I made a rough draft of the Demons that might suit in to the deck that I had in mind and came up with the following:

To give everyone a brief history, ripped decks started out in Horde versions using fatties like Lokholar, Lady Vashj and Prince Kael’thas Sunstrider. All of the three serves different purposes depending on the decks matchups. It was a very deadly deck if the combo pieces were drawn at the right moment.

Team TEC played a ripped deck in an RCQ and was able to land two out three players in the top eight. Everyone was unprepared against the deck and took a beating from the three fatties. The Ice Lord rolled rush decks while the Lady and the Prince crushed control.

And then the block constructed season opened and with it came the loss of staple cards for the deck but also a new opportunity as well. Donation quests and the Ice Lord were no longer legal so going Horde was not as viable as before. It became apparent that switching to Alliance was the most logical choice because of the blue traitor hero’s flip and the new fattie Azaloth.

Thus, the Rip and Flip was born.

It’s that time again that UDE is giving us some mouth-watering preview cards for the next WoW tcg set. Everyday we scour over the internet in hopes of finding a new card and think of card interactions with the current available cards. They first showed us cards from the Darkmoon Faire 5 card set and immediately a lot of players have seen the power of the new location card and Sayge.

But in the upcoming Drums of War set, one card has been begging me to break it–Stormwind City. It is a new location card only usable by human heroes and has an ability playable only if you have a human ally in play. By activating the location, you get to play your next ally for 2 less resources.
